download.php?file=114641&view=24161&embedded=1At the end of this project you will be able to:

Plan:

  • Develop a comprehensive procedure sheet that outlines a disassembly and assembly process.

Do

    • Dismantle differential according to procedure sheet while maintaining safe work practices.
    • Correctly identify and describe the various components of a mechanical assembly.

Review:

Compare finished product to plans and specifications, and review for accuracy.

Daily review

i was happy with the work carried out today,we were productive in the work we did, we had to find out all the different types of bolts were called and name what they were made out of, and the coating out the outside i,e (zinc). we also had the chance today to disassemble the diff. the only bad part was at the start of the day when we were finding out how the diff worked and the other groups were being very noisy to we had to move out into another room.                         20170220_150919.jpg

Day 2 review

i was happy with the work i carried out today, we were able to have another opportunity to pull the diff apart and put it back together again, well we were doing that we took photos to use in our power point, so we could use them in our step by step demonstration. it was not the most productive day but i was happy with the work i completed. i later went on to start my presentation at home and used all my knowledge of that day that i just learnt and included in with photos of how to carry out taking the diff apart.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      hunter.jpg

Day 3 review

today i was happy with the work i completed, i finished off the rest of my presentation and got all the sizes of the nuts and bolts that held the diff together as i didn't record them from the other day. i went into detail of all the Technics i used to remove the hub from the diff. i also did some additional research online of the best techniques to remove parts without damaging the sprockets from the diff internals. overall i was happy with how the day rolled out, but as i had already completed most of the work at home i didn't have a lot to do in the afternoon.

Day 4 review

today we started and completed pulling the diff apart and reassembling using another group members denominational video, even though we had pulled it apart and put it back together about 5-times it was a little bit of help to have it displayed up on the screen. we also got to find out other ways of how group constructed and dis-instructed the diff. i also had good feed back form the other group on how our diff power point went. they mentioned how it is easy  to follow but we missed out on how to use the torque wrench. i was happy with how our group worked together today on the diff, only thing to complain about is if the other groups were ready on time, that would have been nice.

others group denominational video

the other groups video was very nicely displayed and you could tell they put some time into it, the speed at which the video was playing was quite quick and hard to keep up with at times but if they slowed it down anymore it would have been to big of a file, so i can see why they left it.

some of the sizes of the sockets they told to use were not correct, but the fact that we were using metric sockets on imperial blots probably didn't help in the choosing of the sizing. so it was not their fault.

overall their video was very nicely played out and i'm sure anyone that had never carried out that task couldn't have used that video without a struggle, to complete the diff project.
