Preview and Plan:
- Read and understand the proposed process plan for manufacturing the drill gauge.
- Research and understand the job plans, drawings etc.
- Investigate basic manufacturing process
- Conduct research into the safe use of bench and pedestal grinders.
Do:
- At an introductory level, research and compare manual and computerised manufacturing processes in terms of accuracy, productivity and complexity.
- Simulate a manufacturing process through the production of a drill grinding gauge.
- Conduct a basic operator level CNC machining process.
- Research drill bit terms and features for use when regrinding
- Resharpen a worn drill using the grinding gauge, using bench and/or pedestal grinders.
Review:
- Record evidence of the learning processes in this project.
- Review the finished product for quality.
- Reflect on how I worked with others
